After starting work at Hill Holliday - which I LOVE btw (more on that later) I found this cute hole in the wall but ever so popular sandwitch cafe called Al’s! They’re small subs are HUGE! - Almost a foot long. And they have so many different one’s to choose from. I liked the eggplant parm. They have chicken parm too, but if you can’t makeup your mind there’s even an eggplant-chicken parm which has both in it.
Best part — they have the best deal in town, $6.75 for a huge sub, bottled drink and chips. If you’re working downtown, or are by government center, you should go!
I don’t know how many people saw my status update on facebook… but a couple weeks ago I said that I “[want] to wear cute clothes, but the freezing boston weather won’t permit!”
Well, as the weather slowly climbs from single to double digits to almost 50…I can’t help but get excited about Spring clothing! Here’s a preview of two outfits I’m going to draw inspiration from and try to dig up in my closet and put together:

Excellent stores to shop at for a Spring wardrobe that will probably eat up my minuscule salary:
Madwell, J Crew, Urban Outfitters. Then there’s always department stores like Nordstrom and the cheaper go-to stores of Forever 21 and H&M.
Also! I’ve noticed that leotards are showing up in stores. Already very popular in London, the trend is making its way over to the East Coast. I think the most popular might be the lace ones that button at the bottom. I know Top Shop sells them, but Urban Outfitters has introduced them as well - not to mention American Apparel has solid ones for forever! A lace leotard with ruffles at the shoulder and a high wasted skirt could be a new going out look! They are around $30+/-

However, because we’re not in Spring time yet, to stay warm and avoid Winter-blah’s, stick to knitted tights, big sweater wraps, boots, and long bold jackets.

For an expert’s advice of great fashion and a new blog I’m following, go to What I Wore!
I don’t know how, but suddenly, now that I am a second-semester senior, I have found out that there is literally something to do every night of the week if you’re 21…except maybe Sunday night. So if you didn’t know already…
Monday - Free bowling after 6pm at Kings
Tuesday- 973 Commonwealth (formerly known as T’s Pub) Karaoke night
Wednesday- Foundation Lounge
Thursday- An Tua Nua College Night - $1 drafts
Friday- Gypsy bar, but really anything, everywhere
Saturday- seriously, you pick.
Man oh man, if only I could go to college to go out! Too bad I’m taking 22 credits…
It was Saturday night, and I had already gone out the night before to Kings where me and two girl friends (team R.E.D.- can you guess who?) thought it would be fun to race with our three guy friends on who could finish their scorpion bowls faster. The night was fun, and I would totally go back — in fact I should’ve blogged about the place…it’s this swanky, but chill bowling alley/bar with live music on Fridays, 21+ but college-student price friendly.
However, needless to say, as a result of large scorpion bowls and going to bed past 2am, I woke up at 2pm Saturday afternoon. In a hardly productive day —(thanking God that it was early in the semester and that I had barely any real work to do), I kept getting BBM’s on my blackberry about the new W hotel bar in Boston, on 100 Stuart Street, close to the Bolyston Bars and clubs.
Therefore as 11pm rolled around, though sluggish, and in attempt to not be lame and anti-social, I met my friends outside the W in what seemed like a short line. Oh how I was wrong. While the roof had electric lights and fun music playing, because we got there later than usual, it took us 45 minutes to get in. In Boston weather, 45 minutes is almost torturous so I honestly don’t know how I did it. Yet, once we finally got inside, after waiting in that long line, it was definitely a bit anti-climatic.
After coat check, and squeezing into the crowded bar, the place started to grow on me. The night did end up being a lot of fun. There was no cover, and while the crowd was a bit older everyone we talked to was very friendly. The W in conclusion was chic, upscale and cool. Drinks were from $9-$12. - And like I said, though crowded, I expect when the hype dies down, it shouldn’t be so packed.
My advice - definitely go to the W, but don’t wait in line so long. If you’re downtown in that area, getting dinner and heading over there for drinks at around 10, this place is probably a good idea. There’s no doubt they’ll be a line later in the night, so you’re sure to have a chill time.

Interested in buying a rickshaw? It’s on craigslist! Click here: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/1554986242.html
It’s imported from India and available if you live in the San Fran, CA area. My favorite part of the description:
“It is not legal to drive on US streets but great way to pick up chicks.”

I willingly admit that I used to avidly watch the Hills - especially before Lauren left and Heidi went crazy and married Spencer. The show was such a guilty pleasure! Given the main characters of the show, I always thought Heidi was pretty until she started getting plastic surgery. The first time she did, it was whatever - this time, she’s gone over board. Look at the difference - she looks like a completely different person! At 23, she’s had over 10 surgeries. Heidi, your goldie locks looked better wavy and your body more natural when your chest wasn’t bigger than your head.
This was printed in People magazine. We hear all the time of young women who enter the spotlight and claim that they’re still the “same girl from Colorado” and that they won’t let the glam, glitz and gold change them. Yet, once you’re scrutinized, analyzed and dissected by the public, news and tabloids, I can only imagine how a person’s insecurities enlarge. It’s sad that even though we try to promote self-acceptance and natural beauty we still see radical change through plastic surgery and these are the women we end up seeing in the magazines and television. And really, how many implants, reductions, lifts, injections and money does it cost to achieve “perfection?”

I vacationed this December in Egypt like many others (apparently going to Egypt this winter was extremely en vogue!) I even bumped into someone from school at Hatshepsut Temple at Deir El-Bahri! Anyway, while I was there I visited every possible site! I woke up at 5 and 6 am every morning, and was out until 9:30-10pm every night. What made the trip amazing was being with all our closest family friends! We had a huge group of 26 (parents and kids total) and were given our own guide and tour bus! It was chaotic and full of madness but so much fun! We literally saw everything, so I only put bits and favorites of my trip. Read below about all the places I visited!! And, be prepared to scroll for a bit!!
Pyramids of Dahshour Okay this was so cool! We first had to walk down a steep walkway backwards, hutch down and almost crawl to the tomb. My favorite part: When our tour guide turned his back to leave, Abhishek jumped into the tomb!! We concluded since we can’t imagine anyone else gutsy enough to break the rules and do the same, him and the pharoh probably are the only two to ever lay in there!

The Pyramids of Giza & the Sphinx
This was the most surreal experience ever! I had always seen the Pyramids and the Sphinx in movies (like The Mummy – which I now need to rewatch) and read about it in books but never realized how old the pyramids were or how possibly centuries ago human beings so advanced than we imagine could have created a structure as such –all of the burial of a King!

Camel Riding:
We then rode camels to the Sphinx! Some our camel’s names: Za Za and Michael Jackson – fun fact: our camel coach was the same guy who took Obama on a camel ride! He showed us pics!

Overall- though it was so extremely tiring, Egypt was surreal and amazing. I loved getting out of the USA and have concluded that I would consider any career that allowed me to travel the world a dream career. I want to move out of the country and just explore the world!

So I LOVED the falafel’s in Egypt, along with the hummus, kebabs and french fries! Yes! Did you know - french fries (though you can barely see them in this pic) are a major part of Egyptian cuisine? It was delicious — I could eat falafel and kebab’s all day! Best part - nothing felt too heavy!

At Luxor Temple in Egypt. Black Thong with white pants. Never a good idea. Always look in the mirror with the light on before leaving the house.

Woo 2010… will be such a defining year- my whole life (along with every other senior in college) is about to change in May! Time flies, lets hope 2010 is a great year, because 2009 felt really long.
EGYPT was amazing btw, I have so many picture and so much to write! As soon as I’m able to upload pics, it’ll all be here. — I wish I could’ve updated you on my adventures while I had been there, but with limited internet access while venturing in tombs and our bus breaking down in the middle of the Sahara desert, it was difficult in the least.
Do check back though, I will have updates of the trip soon!!
Happy New Year! I hope this year is even more fab than the past!
