Triathlon Training Post 5: Healthy Eating
Something I have tried to be better about is what I put into my body. Less carbs, more fruit and protein. It also feels a lot better when your working your body out so much to nourish it with clean, unprocessed food. I’ve really cut down on junk food, bread, alcohol and sodas and am trying to drink eight glasses of water and eat banana’s before swimming (my left leg seems to cramp up if I don’t drink enough water!)
The hardest part is that I live in New York and work in Media. There are so many tempting foods to try and eat and I really have to resist until after the race. I DO know that after I reach the finish line the first thing I’ll want is a cheeseburger (which I haven’t had in a while now…)
As my endurance increases, I hope that these healthy eating habits stay with me after September 9th! It really does change the way you feel and look inside and out. =)
